To Be Heard

Sat, 05/24/2014 - 14:46 -- Rad_Mad

In order to be heard

You must first

Speak up.

So many things I have to say

Want to say.

Swirling

Spinning around my mind.

So intense

I’m going to burst.

Let the words march from my mind to my lips

Open my mouth

Let the words rise in the air

Race to people hearts and souls

Punch them in the gut.

Tell them who I am

What I stand for.

Instead

I’m paralyzed.

I open my mouth

All the words trickle from my lips

Seemingly falling to the wayside.

No one picks them up

No one listens.

Speaking up

Speaking out

Terrifying.

Chills run down my spine just thinking about it.

The what-if haunts me.

My heart screams

LET IT GO!

To speak is to be bold.

To speak is to be courageous.

Who will listen?

Maybe no one

But maybe everyone.

One thought captures all my attention

If no one is listening

Then who cares if I fail?

No one will witness it

No one will laugh.

So here goes

Standing all alone.

Cold.

Broken.

Inhale.

Let the air cleanse me.

Stand tall.

No one’s around to knock me down.

My words race from my mind

Straight to my lips

No hesitation.

It’s time.

They leave my mouth

Fill the air

Doesn’t matter if one person hears it

Or one billion people hear it.

I did it.

                                                 I conquered fear.
