The Beauty and the Beast From the Eyes of a Beast

Once upon a time…. Once upon a time….

I remember when I would love those type of stories

Mother would come read while dad eats his biscuits

The wind would blow and the fire was hiss

The pots would settle and the trees would scrape

Then my parents left to go to the party

Where people would play and be haughty

I loved the sound of happiness and cheer

Until…until… one day it all shattered

My fair skinned mother fell before me and all I could see was her brown hair

But I never saw father as he ran into the woods

He told us he would never leave us

But when fate tested him, he lied

From that day, I became cold

No burn could ever give me warmth like I once felt

I had all right to be angry at the world

I decided to host the last banquet for my village

Everyone from the village madman to the statesmen came

I even saw the village witch, but that was the poorest decision I made

She seen how angry I was with no regard for others

She even seen the way I talked of others

When the party had died and the plates cleaned

She came to me with a curse to fix my greed

This made me hate even more

My greed came from wanting more than I could attain

My wanting came from losing

And my losing came from someone’s selfishness

How could I ever be such an over joyous being when I had nothing to enjoy

So, then I was cursed to remain a ghastly beast until I could show my humanity through love

For nine years I remained horrid in every mirror

Then one day after an encounter with an erratic old man

I saw something that almost made me reel in time

I saw a girl who looked so beautiful that I would try my hardest to get

Her name was Belle, she was a dime

I trapped her for my sake

I wanted her to see how great I could be in hopes of reversing the curse

But something odd filled my heart

When she resonated a song of trusting and her hair looked alive like mother’s

I felt this feeling called love

That is until a familiar feeling called anger had risen in me once again

Gaston, the man who hunted for the sake of victory

He came to kill me to prove victory

But he would only find tragedy in this story as I let him slip into the fading white snow from the castle top

And just as the last pedals fell and I told Belle

“I have not loved for years but you have dusted off my empty chamber and made it vibrant again, please tell me you love me just as I love you”

She did not answer but she told me with a kiss that reassured me that she loved me

The curse was not broken and I remained a beast

But to the people of this village, I am a king

I am sorry for the rage I brought hat blocked out the warmth

From this day on, I will try to be the light in a sky of dark

I am Adam and I am a king ready to protect those who will never leave
