Cages

Faceless men are pacing as their minds are racing

there is one in particular that keeps my attention

he is dark, yet in his shallow eyes there seems to be a spark

he looms by the gate, waiting for his keeper with hate

they keep his walls covered with lies to keep him pacified

he dreams of the light, seldom creeping through his cell walls

he is like a caged animal

by the greed of the greatest mammal comes the death of a home to many

the animals do not deserve this cruel treatment, nor do we

we cage animals and call ourselves free

this cage is society, the walls are the government and media

we live in a zoo, but what can we do

for we do not have the keys to be freed

yet i still dream of the outside

he prays to God that one day he can be happy

he dreams of the light and so do I

where no blood is spilled

not of thyself or another

no one’s individuality is killed by our cage

the cage wishes to create a replication system by feeding us lies

power hungry men replaced by flowers blooming again

there are some things we cannot mend

the hole is far too deep

but no need to weep or leap

for there is a cure for the willing

His name is God

He will save you if you let Him
