Can't fight fate? That's bullocks.

Take a Chance

Roll the Dice

That’s what you often hear people say anyways

Though I know a little better than just blindly following their hint

“But these dice are loaded!” I proclaimed to fate himself

With a grim scowl upon my face

“There’s just ones on all sides, I know your game!

Oh except that side there…what’s that…a frowny face!?

Run out of imagination did we?”

At this point fate was a bit flustered

He wasn’t used to people calling his bluff

For everyone usually just takes their chances and happens to get “the worst that could happen”

Trying something new or taking a chance,

‘what could go wrong’ they say

Right before rolling snake eyes,

and having your car get rear ended

causing you to be late and miss your date…

before having the world explode or something.

“What do you mean loaded!?  All the dice are like this!”

Fate protested

“What else could you possibly expect!?”

“Oh, it’s just that you know, dice usually have a good outcome somewhere on them.”

Though fate didn’t seem to agree

“That’s what the frowny face is for!”

He defended, with a perplexing look upon his face

“That one gives you only the moderately bad outcome!”

He tried explaining to me,

Though it was clear his justification was a bit raunchy

“You do know dice tend to have a 6 on them, or at least a happy face right?”

This idea seemed to confuse fate, before he finally recalled

“Oh!  We don’t have dice like that anymore,

Due to budget cuts we could only afford dice with two different printing styles.

This was the most cost effective choice!”

He exclaimed, as if to suggest this was a better solution.

I thought for a moment, about how to handle this debacle of fate

“How about a betting game!” I shouted

“I roll a die, and if you call the results I’ll accept whatever fate you want to give me!”

I offered.

Fate was adamant at first, before finally accepting my offer, realizing the odds were in his favor.

And so as I picked up his die, and went to roll

“One! “

He called, as it fell to the table,

Bouncing around before coming to a suspenseful stop.

“Ha!  Five!  You lose!” I exclaimed

Though fate didn’t seem to believe that outcome

I turned and began to walk away before he could protest, calling back

“Ever hear the expression cheating fate?”
