David had a Little Sock- A parody of Mary had a Little Lamb

David had a little sock

A hole was in the toe.

And everywhere that David went

His sock was sure to go.

He carried it to church one day

They thought he was a fool.

Set up a little puppet play

The kids all thought it cool.

The preacher had to kick him out

But still, he lingered near

His puppet yapped and lurched about

As if he didn’t hear.

Why were the children rowdy so?

The ruffled preacher cried;

The children love the sock, you know,

And David smiled with pride.
