The day my cat ran away is one I'll remember.
After many years with my family and I, he left.
To where I know not, but he will fend for himself.
He is a smart cat and very tricky to keep down.
His life has been average to say the least,
So on the move and soon after I knew he'd leave.
Confined in a garage some days, out in the world others.
I gave warning to my mother he would wander away.
No more oppression or rules set by us,
But only those of life, to follow not his choice.
Come home one day maybe he will,
On a holiday, or break from his duties.
What they are I know not, I allow him life freely.
So one day when I get that call, as many pet owners do,
I'll sit and ponder what a life my dear cat went through.
May it be good or bad, I will never forsake aloud,
For going out and living on his own I'll be forever proud.
