Dear 2016 me,

Dear 2016 me,

December 2016 you is far different than what you used to be

Discovering yourself this year was the key

to opening doors that were shut with super glue

which you were unable to see

You graduated this year

class of 2016

and between all the last moments of high school,

your college acceptances (and rejections) arrived,

one of which you applied

was the dream you strived to achieve

through sleepless nights,

times of fright,

you reached your goal

as a whole,

you discovered the means of independence

both postive and negative

you found out distance makes the heart grow fonder

400 miles away and sometimes you wonder: is it even worth it?

But through thick and thin, you and him complete one another

A 5 hour drive from those you loved all 18 years of your life

is the hardest thing to fathom

As they live without your presence, your fear of missing out has been a struggle

Yet, the kingdom of knowledge awaits

You have grown more in 4 months than you have in 2 years

A 7 letter word (COLLEGE) was the true catalyst

But sometimes, you were off the edge...

I do agree that this year wasn't the best it could possibly be

With the election results and the everlasting hatred around the world,

it was difficult to be pleased by 2016

Not everything was perfect, life is not meant to be lived like a routine;

But fortunately,

there is always 2017.
