Dirge of Hope

Sun, 10/13/2013 - 02:57 -- Daiket

For years I've been beaten,

My mind abused.

My strength, it weakens,

as I am used.

I try to be kind,

I do all I can.

But all that I find,

is my hope like sand.

I reach for hope,

a trial so old.

I try to cope,

as my soul lies cold.

As I rush,

I hear the song.

A funeral hush,

it's all wrong.

A rain of tears,

upon the page.

A host of fears,

a legion of rage.

The death knell calls,

hope lies still.

My spirit falls,

gone is my will.

Side by side,

hope and I.

No more to hide,

no more to cry.

This is life,

a downward slope.

Full of strife,

a dirge of hope.
