Maelstorm
   of confusion, wipes
   our lives away, leaving
   almost nothing but emptiness and
   loss, we are lost, some of us together
   but others apart; lost without hope.

Eyes shut against the wind
   Cold, bitter winds
   Angry, vengeful storm

Head turned from the ruins
   Ruins that once stood strong
   Ruins of a home, a hearth that had flown away

Tears freeze in the dark
   These tears are ice shards, tearing the heart to pieces
   Tears cried openly, secretly, together, and apart

Don't leave us here, in the cold
   solitary and all alone, in the dark
   wandering blindly, in this storm
   that furiously wiped away
   everything.
