Dreaming

Location

I'm dreaming of a future
I'm dreaming of a life
I'm dreaming of those people with a book in their sight
Entertained by pages of print in black and white
Educated by a need to read
Wanting their white knight to succeed
yearning for the end of his adventure
Then crying because it's over

I'm dreaming of pages
I'm dreaming in print
But the harsh truth in life is that that ain't a way to survive
Authors make nickles and dimes, it's a crime
But I won't back down from my dream
I can't walk away from my need to write and read
Have to get a degree if I want to succeed
Do some big-time job while I strive for my dream

I'm dreaming of some story
It's all in my head
I type it on a laptop as a lay in my bed
Balancing writing and the homework that I wed
Who has time to sleep when there's a story to weave?
Writing 'til school the next day when I have to leave
Computer Science is my degree, it's my wife
But writing is my mistress, it's my life
I stay with one, but I yearn for my light
Cheating on my homework while I write

I dream of writing
I dream of being an author
But reality is truly a harsh monster
To live I'm going to have to succeed
I'm going to have to balance my work and my dream
I'm going to have to get that job at Microsoft
Go back to my mistress on my time off
