Dreaming wide awake

I'm only awake when I'm dreaming

Cant you tell I'm functioning half-asleep

My eyes glued shut

But somehow tears escape and I weep

I'm living a life without meaning

The voices beg me to wake

But the dark is so safe and warm

In my dreams I'm truly alive

When my eyes crack the thoughts swarm

And my mirage begins to break

How can I be awake when I'm dreaming?

It's not called functioning when I'm barely alive

My breath choppy and labored

This body lacks need and drive

I'm only awake when I'm dreaming

Therefore I'm dead inside
