Dreams

Location

The sun slides down the amber sky,

Leaving behind it a trail of rich color.

Violets and the brightest flamingo pink light up the atmosphere.

Cacti stand strong and tall in the background,

Bravely guarding the desert floor.

Greens, dark browns, flecks of orange color pop through the stinging needles.

The rock feels warm and strangely inviting under my back.

The Earth supports the full weight of my being.

I run my fingers through the gritty sand.

The sun makes its home behind the red clay mountains and settles in for the night.

Aquamarine and navy blues spread over the purple atmosphere,

Blanketing the sky with darkness.

I close my eyes and breathe deeply.

This is where I belong.
