Elements

I am said to be water;

strong of mind.

With hidden feelings beneath a calm surface -

river rapids kill.

I am said to be ice;

ever changing.

Powerful, yet breakable

and softened by sun.

I am said to be darkness;

terror and cold strength.

Alone and frozen

and anger at weakness.

I am said to be mystery;

hiding my life.

Secrets and lies

and a million different people in one.

I am said to be miracle;

paradoxically possible.

Despite the improbability,

I am still here.

I am said to be earth;

steady and eternal.

Always there, always supporting...

Dependable and prepared.

I am said to be fire;

all-consuming

Anger flares, horses rear

Charge. Leave nothing behind.

I am said to be a million different elements,

one for every facet of my mystery.

Every crevice in the dark.

Every river and stream.

Every vein of ice in the rock

Every pebble and grain of sand.

Every improbable survivor.

Every eternal spark.

Every breath I take -

A new day, a new world,

A new me.

I can't choose an element
