Embrace the Origin

Location

A young Vietnamese full of thoughts but returned with nothing but disses, ignorance is bliss.

Played it cool, but still smart, so my future could reminisce.

While half my family knew about guns and the violence,

Other half went to college, played strings on the violins.

So where does that put me? A young man with a perspective.

Search far and in between, you just probably wouldn’t get it.

A rack of Ben Franklins, got my check book.

Studied hard in school with a text book, yet my feeling were always stolen by a crook.

In my eyes I’m a winner,

I’m on the come up, so it’s time for you to reconsider.

I appeal to the women and make their heart melt up.

On a good day I’m 5’7 with my hair gelled up.

It seems like everybody around me is hopping on the laws of Jim Crow.

Couldn’t be myself because I know of all the insults, racists would throw.

I kept conservative, when I really had imagination like Van Gogh.

But they don’t know what eastern culture is based off though.

But I can’t blame them, can’t point fingers, I’m just saying.

Asians like me want representation from the same faces.

Same reason I watched Bruce Lee on Channel 6.

Be the same reason I rooted for Jeremy Lin on the Knicks.

Be the same reason I claim Bruno Mars as Filipino.

Even though he’s half, I just want my own kind to achieve though.

Can’t blame them, can’t point fingers, I mean really.

Why deny what I already know?
