The Etymology of Specimen D’s Family

Specimen D was born in the City of Angels,

His family from a third world country

Torn apart by migration.

A bright colored larvae eats its shell away.

Specimen A, a trio, crave to exploit education.

Semester's end, Degrees are received, and they soar into success.

The larvae searches for milkweed to eat.

Specimen B, another trio, rush to make a life.

Ignorance spins a poisonous web in their educational void.

Six females resulted: Specimen C, Specimen D's second cousins.

A storm roars around the caterpillar’s chrysalis.

Specimen C, fell into their predecessor’s web of despair,

Specimen D, was designed to be better:

His personality, behavior, and character

Shaved to not be like them.

Specimens altercate, the heart, the target.

Specimen D was called a fool for longing tranquility,

Pleading with them to remember: Aren't we a kaleidoscope?

The butterfly king finally hatches.

Deaths, cleanse the horizon of dissension.

What is a monarch without its black and orange design?

"Everything that we tell you is for your own good,”

Pushes me off the branch and I flap my painted wings.
