Every Single Day (Social Work)

Aging out to run away,

struggling, scrabbling, just to pay,

cannot leave but cannot stay.

We see it every single day.

Trying hard to stay on top,

sinking deep but just can't stop,

pressure building, soon to pop.

Doctors, lawyers, swarms of cops.

All those lives they could have had,

anger, violence, angst, just sad,

one day good and one day bad.

Just keep fighting. Always mad.

Can you really change their mind?

Your role, always being kind,

wrong or right, in such a bind:

solutions seem too hard to find.

Black, Latino, Asian, Gay,

draw the line, avoid the grey,

find the perfect thing to say.

This is us every single day.
