eye contact

Location

i didn't look you in the eyes

i didn't look you in the eyes because i knew i would get lost in them

i would look into those fascinating circles of colour and i'd be intregued by those orange flowers nestling around your pupils and i wouldn't be able to look away for anything

i didn't look you in the eyes because i knew that you'd see

you'd see something in mine that you might not like

or you might

you'd see where you are in my heart and you'd see how thoughts of you are all that seem to enter my mind

i didn't look you in the eyes because i knew that i wouldn't be able to resist

i wouldn't be able to stop myself leaning closer than comfort and bringing my eyes closer to yours until mere millimeters separate our faces

i wouldn't be able to stop myself before i'd kissed you

i didn't look you in the eyes because i was scared

of what you'd think

of what others would think

of you

but by the time i'd looked up the moment was gone

and your face was turned

but i looked at the back of your head and thought

maybe next time

i'll look you in the eyes
