Fearful Lovers

I can feel you every time you look;
Your fear for wanting to get close
I have this feeling every time I see
Anyone I want to get to know.
Fear creeps into my mind,
The words stick in my throat,
Butterflies bloom in my stomach,
My mind becomes a closed book.

The words I have always wanted to say
cloud over my brain like a storm;
causing my head to swell with headaches
that never seem to end.
My rationality becomes blurred
I can't think of anything else.
I've got a picture of you
I don't want in my mind.
It worms its way into my thoughts
Never leaving at night or day.

I know how you feel
All the fearful lovers put there
There's more of us out there than you think.
We all understand each other.
Too fearful to love.
Too scared to trust.
But aren't we all?

Aren't we all Fearful Lovers?
