Full Moon

Tue, 05/14/2019 - 12:11 -- helenaw

I felt it before I saw it.

your head was down and so were you,

you made an excuse to go outisde

and my gaze follwed

through the windshield

I saw you sitting down

and felt you crying

heart heavy with empathy and guilt

I knew I couldn't sit by

I sat with you,

sounds of your sniffles and sobs

in between broken cries of hatred.

you don't deserve a father like that.

I walked with you

sounds of our bare feet on warm asphalt

in between apologies,

you should never be sorry for your feelings.

I stopped with you

sounds of the laps of the black water

in between quiet remarks of sadness

fireworks boomed across the cold and dark ocean

bright celebrations of your painful night

10:24

we should probably head out
