Generation X

Bounce back, rewind

Just stop time to see

This generation is more than it seems

Yes, we have guns, violence, and pain

But we also have love, dreams, and games

Silence that lashing tongue

Upon these children you have blinded

Blinded into seeing that killing is key

Blinded into blocking out the light to be free

Generation X

A name undeserved

You can’t judge a book by its cover

So I’ve heard

How can you break down your own creation?

But little did you know, we are a silent nation

Built to deliver us form you, ourselves, and this world

Stop the violence

Keep the peace

To see the future beyond

Eyes unseen of this bloody battle

This war

Knocking down every door

No your daughter is not a whore

And your son a drug dealer

They are just shunned

Shunned by this label that you give ‘em

You call us rebellious

And say we are weak minded so to speak

That all we are good for

Is making you lose sleep

So tell me how this is so

That if a girl lays down with one guy

The next day she’s a hoe

Give thought not to the negatives

But to the positives in our eyes

Don’t base your opinions

On false truths and lies

Don’t make that little girl cry

Or that little boy feel less of a man

Cause he not making dough

And wrapping bans

Generation X is not a fraud

Or a thief in the night

Yet you curse us

Making us live life in fright

Don’t look down on us

Or criticize our ways

Because just like you

We live life as best as we can

Day to day

Don’t be closed minded

Or say we have nothing to offer

But guns, violence, and sex

Because everybody knows

The most valuable treasures

Are always buried

Under

The

X
