Gone

You

Are

Everything that I have ever wanted.

And everything I can never have.

You make me try my best.

You make me feel like my worst.

You are like the brightened day,

But I am the night, and we are far away.

You are the glorious golden sun,

And I am merely the moon.

A shadowed reflection of your flawless perfection.

You are that one-in-a-million chance

That slipped out of my grasp.

Sometimes, I wonder what I should have done with that chance.

But

You

Are

Everything that I have ever regretted.

Everything that I have ever lost.

You are the lucky penny I dropped down the drain,

Like a coin tossed into your wishing well.

I already know I won’t see you again.

Because

You

Are

Gone.
