Goodbye To Happy Endings

Lauren Stirl

Goodbye to Happy Endings

Was it as it seems?

Or was it in my dreams?

Nobody said it would be a fairy tale ending

So all people can stop pretending

She was young and it happens too fast.

He left her with emotions that would always last.

His motives were never clear,

But she tries not to shed a tear.

For the answer, she begged and pleaded

But never was she told what she needed

There was no sense of running away.

“Why me?” she would always say.

Flashbacks swell in her eyes.

In her heart is where the problem resides.

What he did wasn’t right,

But it was clear she put up a fight.

The ending was a tragedy.

But now she is finally free.

Free from the grip of pain

Not from the memories that remain.

She still feels all the pain

And there lies a fresh blood stain.

How could a monster do that to her?

Now she wants her past to be a blur.
