Gratitude

They say that even a single word can break the mightiest spirit,

yet you still stand strong and unscathed.

Pious and Formiable with a sinewy frame, I cannot help but thank you.

For you taught this cynical fool how to trust the world again.

It seems like not a day goes by where you're not bombared by malicious words,

all because of your faith and appearance.

No matter how sharp the tongue of the individual,

You stood firm like  a concrete wall.

Smiling as you thumbed through your worn Quran,

You said nothing much more than a prayer.

You who showed me to write for the sake of others.

You who showed me the brightest parts of the human condition.

I thank you for instilling my desire to bridge the world together.
