Growing up

Sleepy eyes brimmed with dreams of knights on white horses

Youth full of hazed romantic thoughts, scraped knees from falling for blinding smiles

Alas, the prince arives

Warm summer nights filled with the soft lullabies of synced heartbeats

Delicate hands exploring smooth skin, mliky moonlight exposing hidden bodies

Windows aged by thrown pebbles, whispers of night in lovers lips

However, no one warned the maiden of needing rescuing from her prince

Vile venomous words snake around her heart

Echoing yells reverberate around their love, shake the foundation and crack it

Tears run wet and warm down blushing cheeks

The horrors of believing in fairy tales destroy her image of love, when she watches his lips,

the same lips that had gently caressed hers and ignited fire within her core

Those lips, land on those of another lover

Whose hand is now his primary focus, the pain of watching your prince love another

The pain that fairytales don't end with happily ever after, first loves are not meant to be kept

Reality hidden within dreams,

Her haze has broken.
