Growing Up

Gone were the days of innocence; I’m all grown-up now.

I woke up today on the couch instead of my bed; I’m all grown-up now.

Mom, there's blood on the sheets. What are pads? I’m all grown-up now.

I can choose my classes! Finally! I’m all grown-up now.

No, I don’t want to talk, Dad; I’m all grown-up now.

Graduation day! Let’s celebrate; we’re all grown-up now.

Sitting here, in my new dorm, all alone; I’m all grown-up now.

Another graduation comes and goes; I’m all grown-up now.

What are taxes? Why are groceries so expensive? I’m all grown-up now.

My children's laughter fills my house. Life is good; I'm all grown-up now.

Mom. Dad. It’s been ten years. I finally understand.

I’m all grown-up now.
