Hi Mom.

I learned from you that the best things in life often come with time.

but when you get it, you won't need it.

And that's just fine.

I learned from you that I can have more than one muse.

But that doesn't mean it's my job to choose.

And it doesn't have to all be the same.

And if my writing career doesn't work out,

then it's not God who I should blame. 

I learned from you that life is often shorter than the thought of love.

It'll put you through twists and turns,

and you're likely to get burned by more than one match.

And it's no use trying to stop it, because fire's too quick to catch.

So you just take in the pain,

and let it out slow.

But you'll make it out with an even brighter glow.
