Hope in despair- the origins of Elpída

Hope in despair- the origins of Elpída

Beautiful and broken he was

Just like our world- beautiful and broken- it was

And maybe that’s why he mattered so much

Why his actions, though so simple, were so intricate

He mattered so much to those who had so little

To the misunderstood and anyone else in between

He protected those who couldn’t protect themselves

To those whom were shot and bloodied- he healed their wounds

To those whom were hungry- he fed

Because he knew

He understood

Elpída

that’s what they called him

But no one ever saw him

just a shadow of a man

Or what appeared to be a man

Black or white rich or poor

He protected them all the same

Like a mist, or the wind

 You could feel him

You knew he was there

but there was no physical evidence

No proof

But he gave us hope

Because sometimes, facts can only go so far

sometimes hope is all we need

And sometimes, hope is all we have left
