How Can We Be Great?

The land of the free,

Home of the brave.

But how can our country ever be great,

When the man who leads us is would lock us in a cage.

Building a wall fifty stories high,

Won't pin our eagle wings

Or prevent us from flying.

The hispanic community will thrive,

Whether or not you hold our throats.

We will always be alive.

Our music sways the hips of hundreds,

And our food warms the bellies of all.

Go and treble in your homes.

Relive the holocaust with a different excuse.

Blame the ones who are easy to accuse.

But we will never leave,

For this is our home too.

This poem is about:
My community
My country
