How Dare You
How dare you tell me to fear my own color. To bring down hate on my sister and brother. How dare you speak down to me, as if I am less than human. As you frown on my knowledge of herbs and spices such as cumin. How dare you tell me that my race is filled with criminals and liars. But we are not the ones who set cultural fires. How dare you suggest that I take pride only in half my heritage. You dare to call me insane because you cannot read my brain. I am a person not a book. Do not judge me by my look.
