Hungry Children

If I had one wish from a genie in a bottle, I’d use my wish wisely!

If I could wish upon a star I’d wish for others.

If I was a politician and could change the world with the authority of my voice, I’d order one thing.

If I had power of super heroes I’d use them to make a change,

If I had any of these things, I’d make one change, change the world, simply…

STOP! STOP… world hunger!

Stop world hunger, feed the children who lack nutrition, feed those who go without food!

Sadly not so easy, I cannot hope, wish, or dream for hunger to stop.

The thought of children in hunger causes me to be queasy

Others make it way too complex…

Reality is only you and I can make a change, stop the indifference!

Selfishness, too many not caring about hunger needs to STOP!

We the younger generation have the power to make a change.

Don’t ignore this plead, help feed the children..

Think, give a dam, share if you can!

So much waste, so much food.

Some wait for hunger pains to dissipate, while others

Anticipate another night of empty plates and barren frigs

We gorge ourselves and make waste of our left overs.

Children lay awake under their covers in the hood, dreaming of a full stomach and a meal

while across town restaurants toss the remainders of the nights delights into trash barrels.

All awhile lights go out across the town, children lay down hungry.

Winter carols are sung of love and caring, but who actually acts upon their words they sing.

Do they not understand how much hunger stings…

Across the ocean, in nations of poverty and unrest, children lay awake at night waiting for the hunger pains to fade away so they can rest their weary heads.

Children drift asleep at night in beds with empty stomachs.

Do you not see how this just isn’t right?

We play our apps on the latest cell phones, because we NEED the biggest and best, whilst around a corner a child’s lives in hunger and unrest.

We indulge ourselves in technology, fashion, entertainment to satisfy our souls’ hunger for more of the bigger and best.

But, what about the rest?

What if we forgo a few luxuries so we could afford to share and provide food?

Will you allow your world to collide with that of the hungry?

We each can make a difference, change at least one life. Cut our hunger just like a knife

Will you sacrifice and show you really care, do you dare?
