I Breathe Only Through Cloth

Location

I breathe better through a blanket

Let it circulate the air I take in

Let it suffocate me if in the end I’m pure

I rub its softness against my cheek

Micro-plush fibers scraping individually against my skin

I need its warmth

I jolt

Open my eyes

Breath

And I reach out to my blanket

Pull it close

Two eyes completely devoid of tears

Staring widely into the darkness

With only the softness of a blanket for comfort

Let it wrap itself around me

Let it provide me with the security I need to battle the darkness

I could never do it alone

I cry

No salty water

I wretch

No fluids

I breathe

Only through cloth
