You believe that what you see is what you get.

If only you could see

What I keep hidden under my sleeves

Behind my smile.

If only you knew 

The things I don't say

The emotions I don't show.

You ask why I don't have my homework.

I can't tell you that I spent the night crying

and trying to make it to the next

second minute hour.

I was busy trying to make it to this moment 

and I couldn't do my homework because 

I could barely breathe.

I couldn't tell you that, so I simply say 

"I forgot".
