I Live For Me, I Love For All

The world brings us down, it pushes us around.

They say we’re not smart enough, they say we can’t win,

They say we are spiraling down, spiraling and then…

I look in the mirror, and I say it’s okay.

I see myself stronger, and here’s what I say:

I’ve come this far, I’ve got passion and pride

I’m ready to finish the rest of this ride.

I’ll find my way up, I’ll strive and achieve

I’ll be a Geneticist, a Master’s I’ll receive.

They’ll understand that despite their objections,

Their criticism and doubt, that I’ll be the exception.

I’m successful, I’m bright, and I’m free

I do all these things, for my son and for me.

It doesn’t matter how the world treats you, the things that they say

What matters is who you want to be today and every day.

You breathe in, you breathe out, you see sunshine and rain

You see dancers and singers and glamour and fame

You follow your dreams and stick to your plan

You build yourself up and you say the You Can!
