if my love was a forest, i just burned the whole thing down

even two years later i can’t escape

your embrace, the shadow of your face

painted into a picture perfect smile

it lingers in the dusty footsteps we left

swept over by those who came after us

flames relinquish their warmth, reborn as ash

in the forest i burned with my own two hands

some part of me wanders, lost for eternity

i plant the next seeds for some better ending

your eyes are brighter, your words are sweeter

but you don’t exist in this reality
