If you really knew me

If you really knew me you’d know

that I prefer paperback,

over hardcover.

Because paperback is easier to carry around.

And that my favourite colour is purple,

but sometimes its blue, or silver,

but that I always say purple.

And if you really knew me,

you’d know that I prefer brown eyes,

over blue, not because of yours

but because brown eyes have more depth

and mystery.

And you’d know that I love to be barefoot,

because I find shoes too constricting.

You’d also know that I’m not scared of endings,

but of new beginnings.

Or that I tend to take too many pictures,

because I never want to forget your smile.

And you’d laugh at the fact

that for a writer, I’m not the best with words.

Or that I prefer dogs to cats,

but still really love cats.

And you’d always remember,

that I’d rather get books for Valentine’s day

instead of chocolates and flowers.

And that my favourite book is always the last one I read.

You’d also know that I like my scars, except when people stare;

Or that I really like holding hands,

and having your arms around me.

And you’d know for sure that I only hate one word,

and that word is ‘goodbye’

But that’s only if you really knew me.
