IOU

Before you're appearance

I was a disgrace

Shunned by all who loved me

And popular with all who hate

This notebook was my friend

Crushed and made to hide

Handwriting filled the pages

With stories of my life

People liked to tease me

Call me bad names

Although that wouldn't work now

I wasn't the same way

Nightmares haunted my nights

Like salt to a wound

The main thing I wished for

Was someone like you

Starting to make an effort

To repay my debt

Won't work at all

I'm nowhere close yet

You are the only person

That can trust me

Although I'm not good at compliments

You're the best thing that ever happened to me

Tears flooded my room

A home-made fish tank

As everything around me crumbled

I slowly sank

Wishes are for believers

And I'm just a plain freak

My plans for escape

Were so, so weak

None could've helped me

As much as you have done

One may be the loneliest number

But, one's better than none

Starting to make an effort

To repay my debt

Won't work at all

I'm nowhere close yet

You are the only person

That can trust me

Although I'm not good at compliments

You're the best thing that ever happened to me
