It Takes More

It takes a powerful force to be passive.

It takes more than trust to be bonded.

It takes more than bloodshed to be savage.

It takes more than stripes to be branded.

It takes more than an oath to be trusted.

For actions speak louder than words

And Captains seek power in yours.

An eye for an eye, this is true, but it seems

What WE see will never be truly redeemed

To us.

It takes more than a speech to be above me.

More than a signature to unify a country

It takes more than a few extra cents for you to own me.

Make sense of your pride and also 'knowledge your lies.

And we can truly be great once again.

My country

My relationship with America is comparable to the childhood friend you've grown up since early youth. Eventually, you and that friend start to drfit apart, possibly move away, and the calls are less frequent. You still think about that friend and how you would love to see them again and laugh about past experiences, but it's hard because you have issues and other ideals of the hometown you grew up in. I love America. I think the country itself has proven itself to be a force to be reckoned with, and that I Admire. However, I refuse to be naive and ignore all of the ruthless, unnecessary things our leaders and citizens have done to achieve this name. It makes me sad that certain precedents are still being put into play. That certain prejudices still exist today. This, we must fix to be a unified, diverse country.
