Just Live

Expectations weigh down.

So, why be the one everyone looks to?

Why be the one everyone wants to be?

Why work to satisfy?

Why does it matter?

Why do you care?

Always in the reflection of their mirrors.

Everywhere you look you see yourself,

But all around you are nothing but strangers.

No matter the day, no matter the time,

They stay the same,

While they strive for change.

But don’t strive to be different,

Better yet, don’t strive at all.

For to strive is to seek,

And to seek is to meet an end.

Never again.

Don’t strive, don’t seek,

Don’t come to an end.

Just live.

Don’t talk of yourself,

But be yourself.

Expectations is not the other face to satisfaction,

Decided by the flip of a coin.

It is one of many faces you’ll see on the roll of a dice.

The gamble of life,

Has junctions and turns.

But at the end,

Just let it all burn.

For out of the ashes,

Remains naked and true,

the undying phoenix,

the lies within you.

You may chip, you may crack,

But you will never break.

That is one’s self,

No puppet or fake.

For through the smoke,

You see a true face.

The reflections that blinded your eyes for so long,

Are shattered to pieces before your eyes.

And that face you see,

Through the smokey dark night,

Cannot be mistaken,

For it is no mask.

It’s yourself.

Untainted, unfiltered,

Unchanged, all the same,

Don’t seek, don’t change,

Stay true to your ways,

Just live.
