Katrina Damage through Principals Eyes

As I stand in my school library/ All I can think about is why./The books with pages missing and covers torn/ The destroyed computers and pieces of the ceiling/ Are everywhere on the floor./ As I continue to walk around this place/ The more my heart breaks for the children, staff, and faculty./ I come to a stop in front of a bookshelf./ I stare at it with some confusion./ This shelf is still standing and the books are lined up perfectly./ Why does this look untouched?/ As I continue to stand there in front of the shelf/ A thought comes to my mind./ Maybe, just maybe this is a sign/ That we will overcome this depressing time/ And get everything back to the way it was./ No./ We will make everything better and stronger than before.
