Letter to Self

Dear Old Self,

How are you?

It’s been a while, hasn’t it?

I would be lying if I said I missed you.

If I can recall, it took a while to erase away the bad memories of you, and now you want back in?

You weren’t really kind. Remember when you beat yourself up for not being able to live up to their expectations? Or the time, you said yes when you really meant no. Of course you don’t, you were naive, lonely, and craving for their attention. News flash, they never cared.

You still come to mind sometimes, like a wave gushing towards unwanted territory, destroying the strong levees I built to keep you away.

I want you to know that I don’t blame you for being you, you didn’t know any better. You’ve inspire me to do better, to deserve better, and to love harder. We can’t occupy the same space anymore.

Sincerely, Self
