Little Girl

Location

Little girl 6 years old

Neglected and ignored

Tries to raise the newborn infant

And grow up on her own

Little girl 7 years old

Screams for someone to listen

Lost inside herself

She curls in a ball and cries

Little girl 8 years old

Used to being lonely

Never had many people in her corner

Is alone once more

Little girl 11 years old

With cuts on her wrists and thighs

The night is young and so is she

But she is wanting to die

Little girl 12 years old

So lost and naïve

Clings to what little hope is left

Always left with nothing

Little girl 13 years old

Has learned to smile despite the pain

Her birthday ended with being told to jump off a cliff

She lays in bed crying and sadly taking it into consideration

Little girl 14 years old

Holds her head in her hands

Blood cascades down her wrists

As she prays to God her friend isn’t dead

Little girl 15 years old

Left out in the cold on Christmas night

The cuts are deeper than usual

This time she tried to end her life

Little girl 16 years old

For once in her life has friends

She holds on tight to the love she has found

She lets go of the past

Little girl 17 years old

Knew it was too good to be true

Has lost almost everyone she holds dear

Most days she wonders why she is still here

Little girl almost 18

Hasn’t changed all that much

Still lonely and without a soul by her side

Her wrists still frequently bleed

And the hollow feeling she experiences is almost comforting

She clings to hope because it is all she has left

Without it she would have died

She has hope for the future that soon enough things will change

One day she wants to be a singer and writer and help those who have felt the same way

But until then

She buries her face in her hands

As the blood flows down her arms and thighs as she cries
