The Longest Odysey

As I pack my bags, unintentionally, until they are too heavy to carry on my back

and I put my cold hands upon the door handle, and take one last look around as my eyes sweep

the familiar rooms I step past the threshold of the doorway,

the house that has kept me safe for so long is now staring back at me, as I take my last look upon it

I run my hands across the screaming red shutters, and pure white siding that has joined in many

dreams of my inner child. I walk down the bumpy rock driveway and as my feet start in

as a steady rythym upon the asphalt of the road I began my journey. For to long I have searched,

With no success, a way out of these twisted robes. The wind blew my hair around

so I pulled it back behind me and I could feel the chilling winds as they came up under my shirt

There was with no avail, and endless longing that haunted my days

and brought wishfull dreams upon my endless days.

It seems as if this journey is never ending, but as I open my eyes to the sunrise

that colored the sky

I set my eyes upon the ocean waves that appeared between the trees and I picked myself up

and walked, my feet lightly picking up the sand, across the beach I walked

and there I stopped at this little abandoned house

Where was I? When curiosity killed the cat

I peeked in the dim, tinted windows of the house and as my hand touched the siding

I felt the rough old barnwood burn my hands

and my heart began to heal

We all start our journey not knowing where it will end

but when we find out where we are going we usually are to blind to see

that most of the time what we need is not far behind.

I set down the tassles, pulled back the curtains, ripped up these robes,

and put put on my best dress as I found my stopping place

and I stopped.
