Maintenance

In my youth I'd chase things shiny and new

Now I take care of what loyal and used

I used to wander from place to place

Always on the go

Now I'd rather sit and ponder

It is myself I'd like to know

I realize I am grown

not because of my height or my size

I haven't even lost the twinkle in my eye

But I prefer to maintain the things I have

I no longer break and replace

I find pride in maintenance

Preserving in grace

This poem is about:
Me
