Up to Me

Me
Who will remember?
Grandma
She remembers.
History,
We’re not in textbooks,
Not on pages,
Then where are we?
Here I am,
I write for her,
So others can remember.
My grandmother’s grandmother,
Who is she?
I don’t know.
Who will remember her?
Who will remember me?
I’m not the president,
A receiver of a Nobel Prize,
I don’t even have a job,
Not in the phone book.
I’m a student.
I love her,
My grandmother,
I will never forget her.
Who else can pass along that memory?
It’s up to me!
Me,
I’m the only one who can spread her memory.
Her kind eyes,
Bouncing curls,
Sweet laugher,
Emanating from the most beauteous woman alive.
It’s up to me,
With words,
Thoughts.
To keep her memory,
Preserve her life.
Thanks grandma,
I will always remember,
Never forget.
