From Me to You

Black,

Dark as night

But shining bright like the stars.

Being pushed to the side

Avoided with sharp looks

So sharp that it cuts like shards.

Thought things would change after the last movement

However, it only moved us back to the beginning

Starting from the bottom trying to at least get to the middle

They took our history, our hair, our culture, our music.

Used it as theirs,

Like they always do it.

God forbid we create new music or get a new hairdo

Now we have paparazzi, I wasn’t ready for an interview

Flashing lights so bright that they try to steal what we have before it gets dark again

Not knowing that everything that makes them, was ours.

What would they do without us, drive safely?

It would be hard without a traffic light.

Call their friends far away? It would be hard without a telephone.

Pick their cotton? Nah, just do it yourself.

Oh wait, I have a good one. What if they didn’t want to use their stairs anymore?

Well, suck it up, can’t use anything else but an elevator.

It is the little things in this world that without it, it would just be white instead of grey.

So from me to you, appreciate us and keep it equal.

Because without us, it would take a while for things to be the way they are.

Black,

Dark as night

But shining bright like the stars.
