Melting Minds

In burning cold, and crowded rooms

us children "learn" from those of you

those of you who melt our minds

by having us sit and not express ourselves

I myself, I want to sing

I want to yell and be free

freedom, a word we were taught when learning of slaves

when we ourselves later get intelligent enough to realize

the slaves are us

and yes I admit, school can help some

but I am different

I don't learn from being told to be quite

I don't learn from being told to not share my point of view

I don't learn from being told to not express myself

so I plead to you, let my mind grow

Dont let my intelligence halt

Don't let my mind melt
