Memories of Love by Candice Sewell

I am wrapped in the warmth of your smile and I am snuggling between the crevices of your heart.

My arms are wrapped around your rib cage and they are pleading that your heart never forgets the feeling of my hair lying on your sternum.

My ears hearing the butterflies in your stomach flap their wings a gazillion times to the rhythm of me breathing.

Your index finger traces down my spine to see if I have enough backbone to love as hard as you love me.

And I hold your hand hoping that you would see that I am placing three worlds in the palms of our hands, Yours, Mines and Ours.

I want you to promise on the back bridge of your cerebellum that you won’t forget who you are, in order to share minds with ours (x2)

Because I don’t want to be the lovers, who have forgotten who they are.

And their identity is trapped between the lines of these pages and the suicide drumlins playin to their own accord while tangled in bed sheets that barely keep us warm.

I want to be the lovers who get lost in the galaxy of your body, because they’re parts of you I have yet to understand and have yet to discovered

Because I want to know that you are willing to get lost with me on a mission to find the butterflies that once made up for the rhythm of our song.

When we realized that the passion that we thought only existed in our minds, came across when you glanced over at me.

I gather the mental snap shots of us and I spread them across the bedding of my heart.

And remember why you love me.

And it’s because we can stop talking for months at a time, and pick back up the pieces of us with no problems.

The puzzle pieces that help us see the bigger picture.

That our love can be as beautiful as the sunset in Colorado in autumn.

Or as ugly as the blisters on my feet from running through my mind all day.

But there is beauty on even our ugliest day.

Because I know you get mad and I show my ass too.

But those are only fleeting emotions in a world fall of happiness, sadness, excitement, passion and love.
