Missed Curtain Calls

14 years old.
Her mother leaves her.
All alone, never heard of a preacher.
Razor blades to the left, a knife on her right.
Her only desire was to be tucked in at night.
School was never fun, the kids always teased her.
"You're ugly." "You're fat." Always to their leisure.
Until one day, unknown faces surrounded her.
Little did she know her biggest blessing had found her.
They took her to church and the cuts completely ceased.
Her life was falling back together; piece by piece.
The curtain she always hid behind, fell down; it was old.
Her life was the stage; she was the star of the show.
No longer phased by mockery or jokes.
She showed the world who she really was, they all forgot to know.
Compassion and mercy; a heart to serve.
Give thanks to the people who showed the love she deserved.
No more chains or missed curtain calls.
Confidence is in her blood, you can see it in her smile.
