To The Motherland I Will Go

Take me to the motherland
Far beyond reach
Where the blistering orange sun
Shines upon the desert
Painting a scenery of green cactus
Colorful wild daisies
Like an artist with a brush
Sweeping it’s brush with grace
Touching the souls of those
Who wish to seek
I want to go there
To stare out in the distance
Until my eyes can no longer see
Feet start to tremble
Though time is flying quickly
Like a clock running out of battery
Soon it will be nightfall
The sun will fall asleep
Take me to the motherland
Let me be at peace
Send me to the settle land
Where mountains grow
Hot Sonoran wind
Sweeps you off your feet
To the place where
Spirits of the open valleys
Sing in harmony
Like a church chorus
Spreading their haunting melody
Across the Arizonian sands
I want to hear them
Join them in unity
As passion begins to
Burst deep in my throat
Like burning flames in a fireplace
Though nightfall is coming to an end
Sun will rise once again
Their songs will soon be over
Spirits will retreat
Back to their graves
Take me to the motherland
Away from the city
To a place where an endless maze
Of towering mountains and sand
Alwaits my arrival
The sight of an cloudless sky
Still lingers in my thoughts
To the bittersweet smell
Of fresh air makes my heart ache
Realizing all is just a memory
Of a place I used to roam
I no am longer free
But held a hostage
In a place where there is no longer
Mountains but empty fields
A place where the sun
Never seems to rise
Only darkness prevails
I wish I could go back
To see the sun rise far in the horizon
To feel it’s warmth one last time
I do not belong here
My heart belongs in the motherland
Though how am I suppose
To go back?
If my feet and arms
Are tied by a rope
Locked inside a dark prison cell
Dreaming about going back
To a place known as my motherland
A city where I used to live
A place called Phoenix
Where I call home.
