They're the ones I no longer can simply see,

The ones with faces I know.

They're the ones that I've learned,

Bit by bit,

Day by day.

With whom I've shared,

Laughter,

Ideas,

Secrets,

Tears,

Wishes,

Dreams,

Fears,

The last bit of ice cream,

Even if reluctantly,

I've shared my life,

And they've shared theirs.

Until one day,

Without me ever noticing,

Every hair,

Every freckle,

Every scar,

Every eyelash,

Every line,

Every shape,

Every physical feature,

Becomes who they are,

All of their aspects. absorbed into the fabric.

And their faces become a reflection of themselves,

That I can no longer simply see.

Like learning how to read,

And then trying to forget,

Like discovering a truth,

And then pretending it's a lie.

They're the ones who've become a part of me,

Engrained in me forever,

The ones who lift my chin,

Before they even know I need it.

Who won't just say I can do something,

But who make me believe that it's possible.

They're the ones who inspire me to celebrate,

When everything else has gone wrong.

The ones who keep me going,

When giving up seems easy to do.

They are my bliss,

They are my relief,

They are my hope,

They are my comfort,

They are my drive.

Those beautiful people,

Those people are worth living just to know.

The ones whose faces I can't simply see.
